Don’t think of the Rig 21 as just a large tarp suitable for a small group: it is also a useful addition to any outdoor person’s kit list.
As a tarp it is pretty big and this helps when you are camped for a few days as you can sleep and hide from the rain pretty easily. It’s also a pretty big awning, so even if you are just camping out with the family this makes a great dining shelter or massive windbreak. We have even found ourselves using one on the side of the M1; an awful lot cosier than if we didn’t have it.
There are cheaper alternatives around, but not with this performance. With both the Rig 21 and Rig 7 we have chosen a fabric that is awesome, rather than one to hit a price point. Pretty much all the cost goes into the fabric, so if we double the cost of the fabric then we pretty much double the cost of the tarp.
